Here comes the bride {Kelly Dees Wedding}

I recently posted pics from Kelly’s beautiful bridal session seen here. I am so excited to finally be able to share some of her pics from her big day last month! Kelly’s wedding was held at the GORGEOUS Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC and it really was the perfect day!! It was absolutely gorgeous out, not too hot, not too cold and everyone was so fun and laid back! I had the pleasure of doing Hair for 4 of her BM’s, hair + makeup for the beautiful bride and her Mom & G-Ma. I absolutely loved working with and getting to know Kelly! The day really went by so smoothly and I enjoyed working along side my friend and Photographer Lindsay Hart!! Additional pics can be seen over on her blog! Tips & Tricks Tuesday

They say October is the new June in regards to weddings! I just wrapped hair/makeup for an extremely busy fall wedding season and I am now waiting for all of the gorgeous pics to come in!! I decided now would be a great time to address some questions that I get on a regular basis. Every Tuesday I will be sharing a variety of things with you including, makeup tips, favorite products and current beauty trends! I recently had the opportunity to teach a class for the Women in Business group at Tuck! We had a great time as I went over some basic makeup tips including 5 PRODUCTS EVERY WOMAN NEEDS IN THEIR MAKEUP BAG!!! Everyone’s comfort level when it comes to makeup is different but there are a few universal products that are essential for every woman and they are:
1- Concealer
2- Tinted Moisturizer
3- Blush or Bronzer
4- Mascara
5- Lipgloss

Now let me explain… Foundation does not cover blemishes but rather it evens out skin tone. We all from time to time have some sort of problem area on our face that we want to cover ranging from dark circles to pimples so that is why concealer is a must in your makeup bag. A good tinted moisturizer is an essential product for everyone because we all need to moisturize daily even if you are oily and some people don’t wear foundation so a tinted moisturizer just gives you a nice glow that will even out your skin tone while hydrating it as well! Bronzer warms your face and gives you a nice natural glow and blush just gives you that fresh faced awake look! Either product is great and really is based on personal preference and the season! MASCARA!!!! I mean, need I say more?! I know for me anyone that knows me knows that I can not live without my mascara!! I have a 4 year old son so on the days when I am in rush I ALWAYS have time for my mascara at least and it makes a HUGE difference. This is one easy way to really define your eyes. Again, not everyone uses or should use eyeliner, etc but everyone can benefit from mascara! Lastly, lipgloss is a great product to give your lips a boost without looking overdone. Lipgloss is great for everyone and it comes in all different shades and finishes! So that’s it, those are my 5 products that every woman should have in their makeup bag at all times!! That doesn’t mean that this is all you need, but if you are looking for a quick way to really boost your look these 5 products are perfect! While these products are suitable for all women you will still need to select the right color, brand, etc. for you! I absolutely LOVE MAC products and my absolutely favorite mascara of all time is pictured below! I do love Estee Lauder’s tinted moisturizer which is also pictured. Kelly Dees {Bridals}

One of the things I love most about my job is all of the wonderful people I get to meet! I loved getting to know Kelly throughout this past year as I had the opportunity to do her Hair + Makeup for her Engagements, Bridals, and finally her Wedding which took place at the Duke Mansion just a couple weeks ago!! Kelly is both smart and gorgeous and so easy and fun to be around! I loved all of her Bridals, taken by my friend and Photog Lindsay Hart!! Stay tuned for wedding pics coming soon!!

Double Take {Cori & Jessica}

Today’s feature is not 1 but 2 lovely ladies that I recently had the pleasure of beautifying on their big day!! The first set of pics is the lovely Cori and her handsome hubby too! Cori wanted a very natural look with NO LASHES and she rocked it! She was probably the most laid back bride ever. She had such a calming presence and a joy to work with. she really looked stunning in her pics and I am so glad I got to be a part of her wedding day! Thank you Cori, congrats!!

This second beautiful bride is Jessica!! I did Jessica’s hair + makeup at one of my favorite venues the Ballantyne Country Club. Jessica was such an elegant bride. I loved all of her little details including her gorgeous and unique headband that really made her look come together! Jessica had the best hair and I am so glad that she chose to accentuate that feature by wearing it down. Johnson Photography did a great job at capturing the joy of the day! Jessica, I loved working with you. Congrats to you and your new hubby!!

A Blushing Bride {Erin}

I recently had the opportunity to do Hair + Makeup for this gorgeous gal and I am in love with these stunning images from Kristin Vining Photography. Erin is such a sweetheart and we had a great time getting ready for her big day!! Erin’s wedding was on Lake Norman, NC and the day could not have been prettier! I enjoyed doing makeup for her Mom, and bridesmaids as well. I had a hard time picking my favorite pics to feature because they were all so good!:) Thank you Erin, I loved being a part of your special day. Congratulations to you and Matt! xoxox

The Lovely Cassidy

I have been busy busy busy with Weddings, Pageants, Classes, MOVING, etcc. As a result my blogging has been suffering!! I am thrilled to get back to blogging and for the opportunity to show off some of the awesome pics of events that I have had the pleasure of being apart of!! Cassidy is my featured Bride today, whose wedding I did Hair + Makeup for a couple of months ago!! I absolutely LOVED so many things about this wedding, but what I loved the most was the beautiful bride and her awesome family!! We spent the morning getting ready at her Mom’s house which by the way was AMAZING!!! Getting ready on your BIG day in a comfortable environment is soooo important!! They had lots of yummy snacks, great music, laughing and just an overall low-stress fun time! Cassidy wanted a very Classic Look which looked perfect with her simply elegant dress and theme! I cannot say enough how much I love what I get to do every week! I am so grateful to have been apart of another fabulous wedding! Congratulations Cassidy, so happy for ya’ll & thanks so much for having me apart of your special day!!

Beauty & the Bridals {Alexa}

Alexa is one of my most recent beauty’s that I had the pleasure of working with for her Bridal portraits and Wedding! She is not only gorgeous, but a true sweet southern belle as well! Alexa was actually featured on an episode of “Say yes to the dress.” How cool is that?! She had her wedding at one of my absolute favorite venues, The Saratoga Springs in Mt. Pleasant, NC. The house at Saratoga is literally my dream house, a huge southern plantation with beautiful landscaping. At Saratoga, Brides ride in on a horse drawn carriage…LOVE IT.
Sassyfras Studios was Alexa’s Photographer and they did an amazing job with her Bridals. I have been a fan of their’s for a while and was so excited to see their work firsthand. I had a really hard time narrowing down which pics to feature because I LOVED them ALL! Alexa you were an absolutely stunning bride! Congratulations to you and Will, thanks so much for having me!!

Today’s Feature {Jodi} came as a referral from the lovely lady pictured below {Heather} who I had the pleasure of working with last year! Heather’s Bridals are some of my favorites ever!!

Referrals are truly the best!! It is the best compliment to receive a referral from a former client. Thank you so much Heather for sending Jodi my way! I loved working with her and her laid back, easy going personality made the day go by so smooth! Jodi lives way out in the beautiful country and I love that she stayed true to herself and really captured that country feel in her bridal portraits.
